Sonic Freedom Saga Ch. 1

Chapter 1 - Origin of Sonic the Hedgehog

Sonic the Hedgehog, the fastest thing alive & the hero of Mobius/Earth, was born over five years before the rise of Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik. But even when he was born to Jules & Bernadette Hedgehog, whose sister was Queen Aleena (another ruler of Mobius in a different kingdom), Sonic was destined to be among the greatest heroes of his generation. Before they went for a doctor's appointment for an ultrasound, Jules Hedgehog & a pregnant Bernadette visited Sir Charles Hedgehog's science lab while he worked on to perfect the Power Rings, an ancient conductor that was discovered eons earlier & believed to control & maintain the energy in the Chaos Emeralds.

Sir Charles wanted to show his family his new generator that would produce many Rings per minute. However when he showed his new invention to his brother & sister-in-law, it currently produced one ring per day & was yet to be perfected. Nevertheless, Sir Charles decided to test the machine. Unfortunately Bernie was a little too close to the machine. When the machine was turned on & one Power Ring was successfully created, the Ring radiation ended up penetrating Bernie's womb & ended up absorbed by the triplets inside Bernie, which at the time the two parents had no clue that they were having triplets. One fetus had been exposed mostly to the radiation. When Bernie & Jules visited the doctor, who happened to be Johnny Lightfoot's uncle, he was surprised to see one of the unborn babies' legs to be moving slightly with incredible speed.

The doctor was amazed & then asked for another doctor to check out the ultrasound & after they calculated the speed of how fast the legs were moving, they also calculated on how fast that the child could move when running. The result was close to the speed of sound, which amazed the doctors & the parents. It was there when Johnny Lightfoot was also there for a checkup, who became curious with his uncle's work & heard about the calculations. It was there that Johnny suggested that Jules & Bernie name the extraordinary unborn child "Sonic". Of course that was only after Jules & Bernie discovered that they were having triplets.

Months after the ultrasound, Bernadette gave birth to three hedgehogs; the first born was the hedgehog with the gift of speed Sonic, the second born was a hedgehog with quick hand reflexes Manic, & the third a hedgehog that responded to environments & other people quickly Sonia. Sadly Jules & Bernie were unprepared with raising triplets; they only had enough income to raise only one child. Bernie then called her sister Aleena if she could help raise them & she agreed. With Manik & Sonia gone to live with their aunt, Jules & Bernie were left to raise Sonic. Over a few years had passed. Sir Charles was spending time with his lab assistant, Dr. Julian Ovi Kintobor, while he discussed his plans to build the Roboticizer; a machine that can transform normal flesh & blood beings into mechanical robots. But its purpose was to cure the wounded & help the elderly live longer, unlike its new purpose in the years to come.

One day, a three year old Sonic walked in to Sir Charles' lab, like he mostly did while hanging around with Sir Charles. Sonic witnessed Julian & Charles talking about Julian's new invention, the Retro-Orbital Chaos Compresser, or R.O.C.C for short. It was designed to transfer the evil of Mobius/Earth into the six Chaos Emeralds. Sadly Julian didn't have the seventh Chaos Emerald, having the machine terribly unstable. Julian had heard of the remarkable speed that Sonic had & decided to test Sir Charles' design for his friction reducing trainers, which Charles called "power sneakers". Sir Charles protested against the idea to use his nephew for an experiment but Julian nevertheless convinced Sir Charles, stating that Sonic would be "perfectly fine".

With another machine, the Kinetic Gyratoscope, hooked up to the energy of the Sir Charles' Ring Generator (with the Chaos Emeralds' energy borrowed from the R.O.C.C), they decided to see how fast Sonic would go. There Sonic ran as fast as he could with the power sneakers. Sir Charles was amazed that the speed was climbing quicker than he anticipated but Julian was getting nervous, knowing that the Kinetic Gyratoscope couldn't handle the intense speed any longer. With the energies of the Chaos Emeralds & the Power Rings charging & creating a strange, bright aura around Sonic. Before Julian or Sir Charles could initiate emergency shutdown, the Gyratoscope exploded due to Sonic breaking the sound barrier. The result was Sonic's fur color changing from brown to blue (usually baby hedgehogs change fur color from brown to another color sometime in early childhood & lose their small spikes for larger spikes) & his spikes turning into fused quills similar to a mohawk with extra mohawk quills on the side of his head. When asked if he was alright, from Julian & Sir Charles, Sonic's reply was "way past cool!"

Sonic met the King's daughter, Princess Sally Acorn, just before the accident, along with the King's trusted General's son Antoine (though they hardly even interacted with him), a purple walrus named Rotor (whose father was a great mechanic), a rabbit who they called "Bunnie", & of course another rabbit named Johnny Lightfoot (the young boy who suggested Sonic's name & was among one of the first friends Sonic had). They were astonished that Sonic had changed; they didn't even recognize him at first. During the time while they played, Sonic had always talked about his dream of becoming the lead in a rock band, after Sir Charles, who he called "Uncle Chuck" after he helped raising Sonic after the disappearance of Jules & Bernie, had Sonic listen to some music made by a rock band that Sir Charles grew up listening to, much to the annoyance of Sally & the others.
