Sonic Continuity Idea

Earth was simply "Earth" until the Xorda came along & killed many life forms on the planet. Only a few humans actually survived the attack while the animals were somehow exposed to human DNA & slowly over time, evolved into the Mobians that we all know of. As for the humans, they became the "Overlanders" that are only known to the Mobians but "humans" to the Overlanders themselves. To the Mobians, who are now the dominant species of the planet, "Mobius" is the name of the planet. As for the surviving humans, it's still called "Earth".

Robotnik's family, originally the "Kintobor family", later changed their name to Robotnik due to their use of robots to support their family while they spend most of their lives in space colonies, especially the most advanced & most recent ARK. The Kintobor family managed to escape the Xorda attack narrowly & when they returned, they found the planet populated by the Mobians. Even though they are fully aware of the planet renamed "Mobius", it was always referred to "Earth" by the Kintobor family & the other humans. They were also amazed by the Echidnas' advanced technologies & abilities. Years before Shadow or Maria were even born, Professor Gerald Kintobor changed his name to "Gerald Robotnik" but only after Julian Kintobor was born. Of course we all know that Julian will change his name to "Ivo Robotnik" years later.

Despite the Xorda's attempts to wipe out the entire human race, the survivors started to repopulate, causing the human race to slowly start to regain its place as the dominate species of the planet, also having the renaming of the planet "Earth" go with them. At first, due to the two races not interacting with each other much; the Mobians & the humans never seemed to care. Until an evil & powerful wizard Ixis Naugus, who was serving King Maximillian's father at the Kingdom of Acorns that resided in Mobotropolis on South Island, decided to use his hatred of humans & magical powers to try & manipulate both sides to try & cause a war. Warlord Kodos was his main supporter & decided to exile Nate Morgan, who served as the only example of peace between the Mobians & humans at the time while Naugus was close to discovering a portal called the Void that would lead into the "Zone of Silence".

Naugus & Kodos succeeded in causing a war between the humans & the Mobians, starting the "Great War". The humans, with their technology created from scratch after the Xorda attack, gained the upper hand even though Nate Morgan shared the human technology to benefit the Mobians years earlier. It wasn't until a scientist in his early 30's named Julian Ovi Kintobor had a plan to use his people as a test subject, probably due to his hatred of their government or something else. He was discovered & tried for treason but despite everything he escaped & eventually evaded the humans pursuing him. After being found by Jules & Sir Charles Hedgehog, they brought him to King Acorn & was accepted. Unknown to everyone else, Kodos had taken Julian under his wing & tried to get his support by hoping to have Julian help him take over the Kingdom. Julian liked the idea of taking over a planet but betrayed Kodos & secretly sent him into the Void. Also no one would suspect that Julian would become the dreaded Dr. Robotnik years later.

Born on Christmas Island, Sonic the Hedgehog was originally supposed to be named "Maurice" after his grandfather. But completely by accident, Maurice burrowed his way into Julian's lab, who was accompanied by his nephew Snively & Maurice's uncle, Sir Charles Hedgehog. Maurice's parents, Jules & Bernie discovered him & was amazed that Maurice reached the lab faster than they could run. Julian & Snively decided to test the newborn & Julian was amazed that Maurice could already walk & walk faster than any newborn. Julian & Snively decided to test the newborn on a treadmill, designed by Sir Charles. Maurice then started running faster & faster, reaching speeds never before achieved by a person. Eventually the sonic boom destroyed the treadmill & changed Maurice's color from a brownish-blue to the cobalt blue. The shoes were also shredded due to the friction caused at high speed. Sir Charles, with the knowledge of the Power Rings that he discovered years earlier, created new shoes for Maurice for him to use. Jules & Bernie then decided to change the name of their son to "Sonic".

The Chaos Emeralds were used to test how fast Sonic would go. They were used to create the ancient Power Rings centuries earlier before Nate Morgan discovered how to create the modern Rings. Julian used the powers of both the Rings & the Emeralds to create new technologies that would eventually cause the Mobians to win over the humans in the Great War. Unfortunately, a lab accident caused small parts of negative energy to be absorbed into Julian's body, corrupting him a little. Another lab accident after the test with Sonic would corrupt him completely. Little did everyone know that the Chaos Emeralds' powers would be unleashed by the Ultimate Life Form, created years earlier by Gerald Robotnik & Black Doom in a top secret project "Project: Shadow". During this time, Jules & Bernie moved from Christmas Island to South Island where Sir Charles lived. All three helped to raise their son, even introducing Sonic to King Acorn's daughter Sally Acorn. Both instantly became best friends & it was common knowledge that whenever you see Sonic, most likely you'll see Sally & vice versa.

However Julian had other plans after the Great War. He was seen as a hero but eventually decided to destroy government to make his own. His greatest desire was to create his own nation, a totalitarian dictatorship, called "Eggmanland" with the capital city called "Robotropolis". He eventually succeeded when he created the SwatBots to be his main army while the Badniks were later made to slow down or distract any rebellion so Julian could capture the Mobians easily & turn them into more Badniks & other machines with the roboticizer, a machine Sir Charles created during the Great War to cure his wounded brother Jules. However Julian tampered with the roboticizer so Jules would be a mindless robot slave.

In a surprise move, Julian Ovi Kintobor revealed his real name Dr. Ivo Robotnik to the King & staged a coup de'tat & exiled the King to the Void. Earlier before the coup, Naugus discovered the Void & the Zone of Silence but Robotnik "designed the means to enter". Robotnik betrayed Naugus when he wanted to explore the Void & requested Robotnik to "recall him within the hour", despite the warnings from Naugus himself should Robotnik betray him. However Robotnik was unaware of the "Freedom Fighters" that would rebel against him. Starting to use his new forces to try & start to take complete control of South Island, he started using his Badniks to scout ahead to see if there were any rebels on the island. Even worse is that the Chaos Emeralds were lost prior to the coup so he also gave the orders to the Badniks to try & locate the Chaos Emeralds so he personally can retrieve the Emeralds with the SwatBots guarding him.

With his parents & Uncle Chuck, which is what Sonic called Sir Charles, captured by Robotnik, Sonic decided to take matters into his own hands upon hearing about the Chaos Emeralds, despite protests from Princess Sally & the other Freedom Fighters. Sonic succeeded in finding the Chaos Emeralds but barely managed to find them in time to face off against Robotnik, who also used the alias "Dr. Eggman" despite Sonic constantly calling him "RoButtnik". Eventually Sonic faced off in a final fight against Robotnik at an area of Robotropolis called the "Scrap Brain Zone".

Despite the defeats, Robotnik kept trying to stop Sonic, even going as far to tricking the new guardian of the Master Emerald, Knuckles the Echidna. Even that wasn't enough. Over the years, Robotnik did change his appearance but his identity was always recognized by Sonic due to his mustache giving away his appearance. Soon after Robotnik tricked Knuckles, he then had Knuckles believe that Sonic & Tails are the thieves wanting to steal the Master Emerald. Knuckles believed him when he saw that Sonic was heading close to Angel Island with Tails when they were on a mission to find & scout Robotnik's weapon called the "Death Egg". Sonic & Tails managed to stop it but they saw the remains crash on the floating Angel Island then decided to try & finish off the Death Egg but it was too late; Knuckles had already stolen the Emeralds, causing Sonic to find the Chaos Emeralds once again.

After finally catching up to the Death Egg, Sonic & Tails sabotaged it but it wasn't until Robotnik revealed his true intentions to Knuckles when he stole the Master Emerald right before Knuckles' eyes just after Sonic & Tails found the Super Emeralds, which to other Mobians & humans were just legends. Sonic, Tails, & Knuckles tried to stop Robotnik but he got away with the Master Emerald but not before boarding the Death Egg at the last minute & sabotaged from the inside. Just when Robotnik was making a run for it, Sonic transformed from Super Sonic into Hyper Sonic & finally defeated Robotnik & brought the Master Emerald back to Knuckles. In return, Sonic & Tails cleared their names & Knuckles became a most trusted ally in the years to come.

After exploring & scouting outside South Island, Sonic then realized that Robotnik had created a robot copy of himself, known as Metal Sonic. Even worse is that Metal Sonic & Robotnik had captured a young female hedgehog named Amy Rose. Unknown to Sonic is that it was all a trap to see if Metal Sonic actually can defeat Sonic & Amy Rose was the bait. Sonic eventually defeated Metal Sonic in a race to the finish with his Figure 8 Dash, which enables him to move even faster than ever before. After Robotnik planned to get away with the legendary Time Stones, Sonic sought them out before Robotnik could find them & finally put an end to his plans while Robotnik tried to get away. Unknown to Sonic is that Amy Rose would become a nuisance in the years ahead, one that would never leave him alone!

Completely by accident, Robotnik restored Sir Charles' will & Charles returned to find Sonic. Sonic was shocked to see that his Uncle Chuck, still a robot, finally had his free will back. Eventually they ran into Sonic's dog Muttski again & with the help of Sir Charles, Muttski was also freed from Robotnik's control. Even though Sir Charles chose to stay behind & be a spy, due to Robotnik being completely unaware of Charles' will restored, Princess Sally then came up with a plan to have Robotnik transform her into "Mecha Sally" while keeping her free will & destroying Robotnik's empire from the inside. Unfortunately the neuro-overrider fell off Sally prior to roboticization & Mecha Sally captured the Freedom Fighters & almost had them all roboticized until the last of the dragons, Dulcy, saved them at the last minute & had Mecha Sally deroboticized.

Later Sonic thought of the same plan while cruising around a zone, collecting over a billion Power Rings but when he presented the idea to Sally & the other Freedom Fighters, they instantly rejected it due to the fact that Sally, as Mecha Sally, almost ruined everything. Sonic then moved out to "blow off some steam" around the Great Forest but was captured by the bounty hunter Fang the Sniper, also known as Nack the Weasel. When Fang/Nack turned Sonic to Robotnik & demanded to be paid, Robotnik double-crossed the sneaky bounty hunter & threatened to roboticize Fang/Nack if he didn't leave immediately. Robotnik finally had Sonic roboticized, which was one of the dreams he had for Sonic (the other was to simply kill him), thus creating "Mecha Sonic". Robotnik ordered Mecha Sonic to destroy any rebellion, the Freedom Fighters included, all over South Island & Mobius/Earth.

After battling Bunnie Rabbot, a half roboticized rabbit Mobian, & Knuckles the Echidna, Sally then convinced Knuckles to proceed to robotication in an old roboticizer to transform into "Mecha Knuckles". There Mecha Knuckles ambushed Mecha Sonic & eventually defeated him. After Knuckles was deroboticized, they used the power from the Power Rings to use an aura recently created by Sonic after acquiring his one billionth Ring, to deroboticize him. However Sonic was tried for treason for serving Robotnik's empire at South Island. But Sonic was given a full day & night to try & prove his innocence. After finally finding the elusive Fang/Nack, he brought him back to Knothole Village, the base of operations for the Freedom Fighters that hid in a forest that was next to the Green Hill Zone, & made the bounty hunter confess, thus clearing Sonic's name & finding Sonic "not guilty".

The Freedom Fighters then tried to stop Robotnik in a final battle but Robotnik had other plans. He used one of the Wolf Pack. lead by Lupe the Wolf, to betray the Freedom Fighters & act as a spy. It was the use of spies that led Robotnik to finding out that Sir Charles was the spy that was also responsible for ruining his plans & also the location of Knothole Village. But Robotnik also used his spy, Drago Wolf, to trick a citizen into framing Sonic for killing Sally, thus eliminating "two birds with one stone". Unknown to Robotnik, Sally had survived the fall & the Knothole doctors had intended to keep her status a secret while convincing everyone, Freedom Fighters included, that she had indeed died. Sonic was tried by King Acorn (unknown to the Freedom Fighters, who was actually a robot impersonating the King) & sentenced to life. However he escaped & was pursued by the Royal MP's. After evading them, he sought out Dulcy, one of the only few who actually knew that Sonic wasn't actually where Sally was presumably killed.

Eventally Sonic had his name cleared when he & Dulcy sought out Knuckles the Echidna & managed to convince the MP's that he was innocent. It was there that they realized Robotnik's true plan: to find Knothole, roboticize the Freedom Fighters, kill Sally, frame Sonic, & finally crush the rebellion. There Sonic & the remaining Freedom Fighters managed to break free from capture, discovered & captured the real traitor, & made a break for Robotropolis. Sonic went inside, having another final battle with Robotnik. This time they were fighting for their lives. Unknown to Robotnik, Snively had betrayed Robotnik by sabotaging his weapon of mass destruction & in the end, Robotnik was gone forever....or was he?

Sonic found out that Sally had indeed survived & revived her, telling her of his feelings for her. They would've lived happily ever after if it wasn't for the remaining sub bosses of Robotnik's crumbled empire. But the worst was yet to come. A hidden enemy was using Robotnik's old empire forces to sabotage the Freedom Fighters' attempts to restore Mobotropolis after they rescued the real King Acorn from the Void. But it was already too late; they found out that the enemy was none other than Robotnik himself! But this time, he used a new alias, Dr. Eggman, & had a new suit along with new robots & weapons. It was there that he reclaimed Robotropolis & the remains of what was his nation, Eggmanland. Prior to the battle, Sonic found ancient power stones & brought them to Sally, to try & save King Acorn from the effects from staying in the Void/Zone of Silence for years. The plan had worked but an accident caused Sonic to change in appearance; his eyes turned green, his quills increased in size, & he physically aged about a few years. The effects caused him to grow out of his red sneakers & Sir Charles & Rotor decided to make Sonic new shoes for him. They used Power Rings for buckles & new & improved soles that would last against much higher temperatures due to the heat caused by friction.

However Amy Rose was becoming more obsessed with the blue blur, even going as far as to use the same power stones to change her look as well, making her self appear as a typical teenager but still acting like a 12 year old girl. But the worst was yet to come. Knuckles had heard tales of a mutated Chao that would cause destruction to the world but didn't believe in it, until he saw a water-like creature steal the Master Emerald, causing Angel Island to fall into the ocean. Back when the Mobians were the dominant species of the planet centuries ago, the humans built Station Square centuries earlier & eventually had reclaimed their place as the dominant species of the planet. But this time, instead of clashes between the two races, the humans & the Mobians lived in the same places in peace after an agreement between the King & the President.
